Sure, MRT is made up of a registry entrie and a single .exe file. The registry entrie is what windows update checks to determin if the latest version has been run and the .exe is what actually does the scanning. The .exe measures in at 36MB and is unnessasairy on a clean install for reasons previously mentioned. So the registry entrie is included to keep windows update happy and the .exe ommiited.
If you need to run MRT between the time you install and the next patch day you can always run it from the download centre.
Just curious, why are you interested in such detail? It's not a bad thing just curious.
Honestly because at the time I asked, I was trying to figure out how you made your update pack work in the nlite. It seemed that the MRT was the only thing that nLite rejected from the start, wouldn't allow you to even install it and that is the only one out of all the updates after SP3. - Only later to find out that it's not the only one that doesn't work.. lol That is, without your modification, or 'addons' ..
Another thing. I have never actually used MRT until I found your site, and didn't know how the update definitions worked but thought that they are what took up the majority of that 36MB and not the .exe itself. Clearly you are more advanced in the digital world than me. I applaud to your expertize and will hit the donate button today. Thank's Darren, thank you for all your hard work,it has led me to a more interesting path on the computer.

nLite can slpistream most updates, but the ones which don't follow the standard install routine, or add new files to the cd instead of update it, need extra custom coding for Nlite to support them automaticly, as nuhi isnt developing nLite anymore support for these updates obviously won't be added. As long as update packs exist though there is no need for built in support and as I said earlyer, nLite can't create update packs but it will slipstream most updates. nuhi has done a great job creating nLite, it does everything you need and more for a custom installation.
Thanks for the donation, I just put it towards paying last months hosting bill.
