Re: Microsoft Update Engine v7.4.7600.226

Sorry for the late response. I remembered where I found the version 7.0.6000.569. It is the MicrosoftUpdateCatalogWebControl.dll. I used your addon on a clean install and it forced me to install the ActiveX control before continuing. I didn't look into it any further at the time. It probably has been fixed with your latest release. I am new at this activeX stuff. I didn't know what was going on. I was under the impression installing your addon would stop the nagging and it didn't. It could have been some other addon I installed with it though and I don't think I have experienced the problem since.

The last update didn`t change the functionality of windows update so if your not asked to install it anymore then it`s probably something else causing it. I personally have never been asked to install that file.

Re: Microsoft Update Engine v7.4.7600.226

Hello, I've used 2 of your addons (WGAN and MU) with success, thanks a lot for your work!
   Later on I've integrated IE7 (I didn't b4) and had ActiveX request from MU. I also tried integrating "MU" after integration of IE7, same thing..
  There also a similar issue posted earlier in this thread from user "thedexmonster". Would appreciate your thoughts on this, Thanks.

P.S. I am ready to provide whatever info necessary for you.

Re: Microsoft Update Engine v7.4.7600.226

It`s probaby because you, and I guess thedexmonster too, are using IE7 which I do no testing on because my update packs are for IE6. I`ll look into it for you though.

Searching the web, I've found this registry tweak that prevent the prompt for ActiveX control to be installed with IE7.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{6E32070A-766D-4EE6-879C-DC1FA91D2FC3}\iexplore]
"Flags"=dword:00000004

By the way, I also noticed that Windows Update Agent (and Microsoft Update) are updated to versione 7.2.6001.784

So is there a chance you'll make this addon for IE7?

Updated, see changelog in top post.

mf3imp, Yep that`s basicly it. The value isn`t needed though, WU only checks for the Key wink

SubCon, Updated to work with IE7. I`ll be making sure it stays that way from now on so if it doesn`t work let me know. smile
