Hello,
I would like to make a slipstream disc of my windows xp pro adding the sp2 to it. I was just wondering if I should select the xpsp2 file and in the section for other items put the xp sp2 update pack or isn't that needed?
TIA

Hello lnjr,
If your disc doesn`t already include sp2 then you need to slipstream it yes. To add sp2 select the service pack tab at the start of nLite and you`ll be asked to point to the file, it`ll then be slipstreamed and you can select my update pack on the next screen.
There`s a guide to using nLite here if your still not sure.
Good luck.

Thanks for the information.
I seem to be having a different problem. I created a slipstream disc adding just SP2 with no problem. However, I wanted to make one with IE7 on it but have tried a few times today with the exact same problem each time. After adding the SP2 update, then inserting the IE7 file in the hotfix section and going on to the final step I get a page stating that Ie7-windowsxp-x6-enu.exe – this is not expected type of hotfix.. Please report this error if it's unexpected.
I went to MS site and downloaded the IE7 for XP Service Pack 2 or later so I'm not sure why I got this error.
Any ideas?

Your IE7 download may be corrupt, try downloading it again. I just tried this one and it worked fine.

That is the exact same page that I got mine from. I'll try downloading it again and try making the disc again.
Thanks!

It`s was most likely a corrupt download then since you`ll only get that message on unsupported files. IE7 is a supported file and your downloading the correct one, so, it`s most likely a corrupt download. It happens.
Let us know how you get on anyway.

Well, I tried it again and this time I went back and got a fresh download from the MS website ---
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta … laylang=en
and the same thing keeps happening.
I had made a slipstream disc quite a few months ago with the sp2 update and ie7 without any problems. I need a new one because a close friend was having real problems with her pc so I mailed it to her and told her to keep it and I would just make a new one for myself. So this makes no sense that I would be having this problem. The only difference is that I installed the newest version of nLite to create this disc - could that be why I am having this problem???
Maybe I should just leave it at have a disc with sp2 on it - or maybe make one with sp2 and the xpsp2 update pack and just keep a copy of ie7 on a separate disc so that if I ever do need it I can then just get that disc with the ie7 download on it and reinstall it that way.
I was also thinking of maybe trying to install the software on the new vista notebook and then download the xpsp2 and ie7 and try making the slipstream disc on that pc instead --- but not sure if that can be done or if it needs to be made on the pc that is running windows xp pro.

This is definatly an nLite issue tbo. Re-install it and if you still get that message, do as it says and report it to nuhi in nLite`s forum.
EDIT: Looks like you already did - http://www.msfn.org/board/error-when-in … 23607.html

I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling and try again. Should I go back to an earlier version or try this newer version again?
You are correct that I did report it in the nLite forum already - but haven't gotten any resolution as of yet from that site so I will do as you suggested.
However, do you think that I should simply redownload the newest version again or go back to the earlier version?
Thanks Again!!

You`ll most likely get a better response if it can be reliably reproduced, otherwise there`s not a lot anyone can do.
Try the old version of nLite that worked for you before, try downloading nLite again, try re-installing it, try re-installing .net, try re-installing windows and running nLite on that (use a virtual machine if it`s more convenient), try integrating just sp2 and IE7, try anything else you can think of.
If you still can`t integrate IE7, zip up your nLite directory and email it to me. If I can`t reproduce it then it`s a problem with your xp source or your PC.
