Making my own update pack... How?

Hey there,

Would love to use your update packs, however I am dutch, so the updates won't work for my Dutch Windows version. Now working in a tech-support store, I've decided to speed things up a bit: Making a bootable USB stick (like one of those 16GB sticks) and get multiple OS's on there.

The idea should be like:
Windows XP Home SP3 August x86
Windows XP Professional SP3 August x86
Windows XP Professional SP3 August x64
Windows Vista SP2 August AIO (so all the versions in one) x86
Windows Vista SP2 August AIO x64
Windows 7 August AIO x86
Windows 7 August AIO x64

Now getting it on a bootable USB is a different subject, but I'm just explaining the situation at the moment.

Basically I want all, or at least most of the updates up to now in the installation files, as well as a driverpack ( http://driverpacks.net/ )

I do like some parts to be unattended, but not all. (Username part can be unattended), but I do want to fill in the product key myself (as it has to be legal ofcourse). I also want to decide myself where to install, so no automated format or anything, I want to keep that part manual.

My question: How do I get all the updates (a list of what's needed?) and "slipstream" them in the installation?

Thank you,

Niels

That is a massive question which I wish could be answered quickly.

If you want to build your own pack from scratch then you should first study a current pack and learn how it works. I will be willing to help if you get stuck and have any questions.

Hi Darren, once again thank you for your excellent work and forum, you have done a great job as I found out that I didn't do such a great job . (to say the least)  Here is the thing,

The dude on the nLite site said that when you get to the hotfixes and updates,etc... just to basically do what he did and that is .. -

- In this window we have the option to add hotfixes and update patches into the installation
- I created a folder on my hard drive where I have downloaded all patches and updates for easy reference
- If you are using Internet Explorer, run Windows Update and look for the updates. Then download the actual file by searching for it within Microsoft's website

Well, I did that Darren and I did that precisely. I copied all 100 -105 updates/hotfixes from the update list for reference and then went to the MS site and downloaded every single one and put them in a folder just as he said, then added them next time around at making my new perfectly updated XP install disc but there were some serious issues.. lol   For one, I never saw a white task bar before and wmp didn't install properly... 'Error'  It was just screwed.

When I use your update pack, it works perfectly and I noticed it doesn't look anything like mine..  So did nLite guy make a mistake in those directions or am I missing something ?

Your pack is extracted into dlls,etc..  mine is not.  What am I doing wrong ?

nLite doesn't make update packs, it can slipstream most updates though. Make sure the "direct hotfix integration" option is checked, nLite won't be able to automaticly slipstream all updates so some won't be slipstreamed or won't be slipstreamed properly or at all and instead added to svcpack.

Yes, I'm aware that he doesn't make update packs, but cool, you answered my question.. I know to enable the hotfix button, so you are saying that (even with it enabled,) it still wont accept or slipstream all updates ?

Also, did you choose not to integrate IE 7 or 8 in the pack for any technical problems or just to keep it users choice  ?
