I have searched the site and forums... I am unable to locate an FAQ or instructions on how to use the update packs.
I found the link to this site on the nlite website.
How do I incorporate this update pack using the nlite software?
Are these update packs intended to be used with the nlite software?
So far I have downloaded the update pack for SP3. I have also, from MS, downloaded the SP3. Using nlite, I have slipstreamed SP3, WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe. I followed that by slipstreming the xable.net's C:\Documents and Settings\Snickers76\Desktop\XUpdatePack-SP3-v1.0.12\svcpack\KB955839.exe. There are many more .dll .cat . exe files on the xable.net's update packs, how do i incorporate those into nlite? Or do I not need to do this?
Thank you for your help

There`s a guide linked on the download page.
Are these update packs intended to be used with the nlite software?
Yes follow the guide.

It might be useful for new users to explain the .7z file format these are stored in.
NLite could not find the exe file it needed.
I"m guessing you have to download a decompression utility to use on the 7z file but it would be nice to have that described.

Well, that didn't work -- I extracted it with 7ZIP.
But NLITE reported an error that it couldnt slipstream extracted files.
I'm lost. I'm usually pretty good figuring this stuff out when not properly documented.

There`s no need to extract it at all. Just point nLite at it as the guide linked to on the download page shows.

That's certainly not my experience.
That doesn't seem to work as NLITE is looking for an executable (.exe) file and it doesn't find the .7z file in the directory.

Then your adding it on the wrong screen, it`s not a service pack it`s an update pack. Add it on the update pack section as shown in the guide and mentioned in nLite itself.

I was beginning to head that direction in my guessing how things work.
Might be useful to mention that in documentation.
I downloaded the MS SP3 and Nlite seemed to work well, without incident.
I'll need to test the two BURNS. I did a DIRECT WRITE and an ISO burn.
I ordered a new HD last night for this old but relaible DELL since the original 20gig drive is at capacity even when reserved only for OS and Program Files.
Does your documentation address how to use the ISO images just created?
I realize this is needed only by new users or users who don't regularly encounter ISO images.

Oops, sorry I just realized that's really an NLITE question as addressed in my last post.

That`s not really an nLite question either. I suggest you give MSFN`s unattended guide a read to grasp some of the basics and then go back through nLite`s guide.
