Firstly let me say a big thank you for all your work. It makes my work much easier!

Regarding your SP3 Update Pack v1.0.7 ...

It doesn't seem to install KB956841

I have tried twice. I am resorting to installing it on first boot to desktop, but this is ruining my Boot screen. Any ideas?

Hi soporific,

Three things:

Does that happen on a clean unedited xp source with just the update pack added?

Don`t install it at first boot, run "qfecheck -v" in a commad window and paste what it says about 956841.

Paste or upload your Last Session.ini.

Hi,

Thank you for your work with the update packs!

I am having some trouble with the latest release, it does not seem to be installing WMP 11. I have a clean SP2 disk that I slipstreamed to SP3 and just added your update pack.

I notice that WMP11 is listed under "Optional" in the contents section... does that simply mean its an update that Microsoft considers optional... or does it mean that I have to do something special?

Thanks for your reply.

I've confirmed that the update pack installs the KB956841 update when installed without any of the other update packs. I should have assumed this was the case as no-one else reported it missing.

My goal is to get it playing well with all my other updates. I am confident my next test will get the desired result. I will post my findings ASAP.

PS - jacksinful, use the WMP11 Slipstreamer after running nlite. Grab it from here:

Hi Xable, i have managed to get all the updates installed --- the problem was my Bootscreen addon ... it was using the RTM versions of ntkrnlmp.exe and ntoskrnl.exe  ... and as it was the last to be integrated, it was replacing your updated versions. So i've updated my addon with the updated versions (with my graphics inserted) and it all works great.

Actually, there is still one update being reported as being missing - kb951072 - this is strange because it installed in every other test but if worst comes to worst i will run that on first boot.

Thanks for your suggestions, i now use QFECheck !! What a useful tool that is ...

PS - regarding kb951072, i somehow left it out of the SVCPACK.INF  !! D'oh ... so its ALL GOOD! Cheers man.  Thanks also for your WGAN, WinUpdateEngine, Hashtab, QFECHECK, and Sysinternals packs !!!

Xable,

Don't ask me how I did it but I managed to get the two updates installed just using your update pack.

As soon as I add Media player 11 and IE7 into my winxp installation these two updates will not install so I have decided to just have a install cd with the critical updates and nothing else.

jacksinful, It`s not meant to install WP11. As noted at the top of the contents page, stuff in bold is not included in the pack. As soporific mentioned you can use the WMP11 slipstreamer to add WMP11 to your disc.

soporific, Good to hear you got it sorted out. nLite shouldn`t replace new files with older versions unless you enable advanced warnings and agree to the popup. So make sure that`s the case otherwise you should file a bug report with nuhi.
