What am I doing wrong?

I have been trying to insert these update packs into my slip stream. I keep getting an asms error- "there are no more files". This is occuring at the 39 minute mark after the xp reboot.

The log indicated a missing manifesto in a cab file, but the manifesto *is* actually there- I checked. When I run this slipstream without updates on my VM box, I get a complete install.

FYI, I am using an image of my XP pro SP2 disc and a SP3 image from MS. And the current version of nlite. I have tried varying unattended settings, varying  hotfix/cab settings... I'm running out of ideas.

Puh-leeez- these hotfixes look so freakin awesome! Don't make me go to MS and insert these one at a time...

Just so you can see it, heres the installation error:

Your slipstreaming both sp2 and sp3 update packs into a sp3 source, you only need the update pack which coresponds with the service pack level of your source.

So for a sp3 source you just need the sp3 update pack, no need to add the sp2 pack aswell.

I see, the thing is this slipstream began as SP2. Here's what I did:

Started with the image of my SP2CD. D/L'ed SP3 iso. Slipstreamed that, and everything went fine. I got both SP2 and 3 updates because I *did* begin with SP2 with the nlite process.

I thought that since your SP2 update was from last month it had pertinent updates to SP2 that are not in my SP3 image I have from march of 08. The SP2 CD is *years* old!

So you're saying that I should only use the SP3 update despite the fact I start with SP2 and then add the SP3 image?

Again, thanks so much for being attentive! I will try to donate something to your site. Any chance you'll be expanding this to Vista and 7?

Exactly, service packs are cumulative and so sp3 supersededes sp2.

No plans for a vista pack as yet, maybe in the future when I`m actually using it.

The official SP3 includes all the updates released for SP2 (like I said service packs are cumulative) which is why there are more updates for SP2 than SP3.

Right after a service pack release there are zero updates, of course that doesn`t last for long
